This book is a required background for anyone who is dealing with excitons. The book is old, and you will not find in it ready answers for up-to-date problems, but it gives the essential basics and understanding of the subject; and how many research papers today are written without such basic knowledge?
I must add that the author’s writing style is extremely clear and easy to follow. I regret that the book is rather expensive, I was lucky to grab it very cheap.
