Summary: Green is here to stay
Rating: 5

April 22nd was Earth Day, and Managing Energy Costs fits right in with this environmental theme that will long resonate past this annual observance. Not only can an individual learn how to initiate a successful “green” energy plan in a company, but Managing Energy Cost convincingly shows how such a company, in turn, can save money and improve the financial bottom line in doing so. Through a multitiude of hands-on examples, Eggink, a renowned energy engineer, delineates a step-by-step action plan that any company can follow, but he does not stop there. Further, he addresses the various pitfalls and obstacles that such a program may encounter and offers solutions so that this win-win of saving energy to save money, and subsequently saving the planet, is not derailed in even the best intentioned company. This is a perfect book to initiate a round table conversation and discussion about how to manage energy for the greater good of a company.

Rating: 5

Whether you’re an energy management professional, or just someone interested in helping your company, college, or community be more environmentally responsible, this book has a lot of great insight. It is free of jargon, yet more than just espousing general concepts, it manages to convey a depth that makes it relevant and actionable. I was particularly impressed that the book focused on the human aspects of conservation, providing many low-cost and no-cost solutions to reduce energy expenditures and environmental impact.
This is the kind of book that you could give to your CEO, or use as a basis to define own energy awareness and management strategy.
