Description:This book provides a guide for utilizing the Internet in all aspects of nursing research. This includes conducting research, teaching research, and using research.
Purpose:The purpose of this book is to provide a resource for nurse researchers and students of research wanting to use the Internet more effectively for scientific and teaching purposes. With the increase in online research courses and conducting research online, these are worthwhile objectives.
Audience:The target audience for this book is nurse researchers and students of research who want to use the Internet more effectively in conducting research. The authors have written other texts on Internet usage and nurses.
Features:This book is divided into three parts. Part I focuses on using more sophisticated methods of accessing information online including key resources for evidence-based practice. Part II includes information for conducting research online including subject recruitment and data collection via the Internet. Part III deals with teaching research courses online at the undergraduate and graduate levels. An additional feature of this book is the appendices. The first includes samples of Internet research-based projects. The second includes web resources for nursing research.
Assessment:This book should be quite useful to the target audience. This book deals with the most frequent issues and questions regarding Internet nursing research. This book is a must for introducing the use of the Internet for nursing research.

Joyce J. Fitzpatrick, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN, is the Elizabeth Brooks Ford Professor of Nursing, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was Dean from 1982 through 1997. She has received numerous honors and awards including the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award 18 times. Dr. Fitzpatrick is widely published in nursing and health care literature. She is senior editor for the Annual Review of Nursing Research. series, now in its 24th volume. In 1998 Dr. Fitzpatrick was senior editor of the of the first volume of the classic Encyclopedia of Nursing Research as well as a series of Research Digests, including Nursing Research Digest, Maternal Child Health Nursing Research Digest, Geriatric Nursing Research Digest, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Research Digest. She earned her MSN from The University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, and her BSN from Oakland University. Dr. Montgomery is Co-Editor of Maternal Child Health Nursing Research Digest and Internet resources for Nurses, both of which received American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Awards.
