Real Food for Healthy Kids features more than 200 easy-to-make recipes for school days and weekends, including breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner, and even parties. Each recipe has been taste-tested by children and analyzed by a nutritionist.
A power breakfast might feature Carrot Cake Oatmeal, Green Eggs-in-Ham Quiche Cups, or Hole-y Eggs!
Keep kids energized with a Real Food lunch, such as Hail Caesar, Jr. Salad, Turkey Pinwheels, or Egg Salad Double-Decker Sandwiches.
Seaman and Steel’s snacks include Zucchini Tempura with Horseradish Dunk, Chewy Granola Bars, Happy Apple Toddies, and much more.
Serve a mouthwatering family dinner: Peachy Keen Chicken, Super Steak Fajitas, or Princess and the Pea Risotto.
Enjoy a scrumptious dessert: Cheery Cherry Plank, Brown Mouse, or Chocolate-Covered Strawberries.

Summary: Don’t waste your money
Rating: 1
I was very disappointed in this book. A lot of the recipes are high in calories and fat and not at all what I would consider healthy. Zucchini tempura for example (over 300 calories without the sauce they recommend) isn’t a healthy snack yet the authors of this book seem to think it is. Other recipes aren’t recipes at all…grilled cheese made with bread, butter and cheese? Gee, I never would have thought of that. This book was a complete waste of money.
Summary: A must have cookbook!
Rating: 5
The recipes in Real Food for Healthy Kids are truly amazing, from breakfast to dessert! For a special occassion, you MUST try Nana Elizabeth’s Lemon Sour Cream Cake and 14-Karat Gold Cake.
This book is not only a collection of simple and delicious recipes (including a section on baby food and food sensitivites), but a resource for good, practical advice on cooking and nutrition that every parent should read and apply!
Summary: Fun and Creative

This cookbook is so easy to use and I love the all the recipes we’ve tried so far and the fact that they tell you accurately how long they take to make.
I loved the “What to Feed Your Kids and Why” section. I know what to feed my kids, I’ve been doing it since they were born and this section didn’t have that annoying condescending tone to it, but gave me good ideas, reminded me of a few things and taught me a few things too.
This cookbook is a keeper.

I bought this book so that I could avoid my children eating school lunches and I am very pleased with the recipes. The cornbread recipe is awesome.
